Alan Crutchfield, PhD
Alan Crutchfield is a licensed psychologist, who completed his Ph.D. in counseling psychology at Florida State University, his post-doctoral residency with Mosaic Psychological Services, and his pre-doctoral internship at the Texas Tech University Student Counseling Center. Dr. Crutchfield has worked in various clinical settings since 2015, including a therapeutic summer camp, multiple university clinics, a K-12 school, inpatient and outpatient hospital settings, and private practice. Clinical areas of specialty include trauma, addiction (including substances and sexual behaviors), recovery from addiction, couple's counseling, clinical supervision, forensic and psychological evaluations and assessments. His theoretical orientation for therapy is integrative, influenced by client-centered, interpersonal process, and psychodynamic therapies. However, he also integrates reality therapy, expressive arts, narrative therapy, CBT, DBT, ACT, etc. in the treatment plan depending on what might be most helpful to meet each client where they are. Dr. Crutchfield’s approach typically encourages a greater awareness of one’s needs, as this enables reaching goals in more intentional and adaptive ways. He also prioritizes the value of emotional communication and aims to facilitate connection, growth, and healing. As a Christian with personal experience in long-term recovery from addiction to drugs and alcohol, Dr. Crutchfield welcomes the integration of spirituality into the biopsychosocial model for client’s who find that approach valuable.
