Shannon D. Mullen, PhD, completed her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from The University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 2008. Prior to her doctoral studies, Dr. Mullen earned a Master of Arts in Counseling from the University of New Orleans.
Dr. Mullen is a licensed psychologist in Georgia and Florida and is also a PSYPACT clinician. She established Mosaic Psychological Services in 2010, where she provides both clinical and forensic services.
Her clinical areas of specialty include trauma, attachment, sexual health and addictions, and psychological evaluation. As a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist and Supervisor, Dr. Mullen provides targeted interventions for individuals struggling with sexual infidelity, compulsive sexual behaviors, and addiction to sexual material. She helps patients begin and sustain long-term recovery while working to restore relationships affected by betrayal trauma.
Dr. Mullen has nearly 20 years of treatment and assessment experience in sexual disorders and addiction. Treating the whole person is a hallmark of her work, and she approaches each individual with careful attention to the physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of personhood.
She is trained in psychodynamic theory and currently practices through a trauma-focused model utilizing Internal Family Systems. She is also trained in EMDR.
As a Catholic Christian, Dr. Mullen welcomes theology as an important part of clinical work, and it helps form the psychodynamic lens through which she seeks to support restoration of dignity, healing, and health.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Mullen is a regular speaker and consultant for religious organizations. She designs and leads training seminars for clinicians in psychosexual assessment and the treatment of clergy and clergy applicants. When not engaged in direct patient care or training, she enjoys supervising and mentoring emerging mental health professionals.
